1st Advanced reconstructive surgery workshop organized together with COSECSA in Maputo (Mozambique) from 23rd to 27th 2015

In August 2014, the Association 2nd Chance was honored to sign a cooperation agreement with the “College of Surgeons of Eastern, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA)”. Seven months later, the two organisations organized their first join workshop to train surgeons in Reconstructive Surgery. Thanks to Dr Celma Issufo, Head of the Reconstructive Surgery Department  Central at theHospital of Maputo, as well as Dr Assis da Costa and Dr Prem Yohannan, representatives of the COSECSA, this workshop was a big success.

More than  twenty surgeons from 14 countries of the region ( 1 ) and from Europe worked together during a week on sharing techniques of reconstructive surgery.

The training took great benefit from the presence of Dr Ussene Isse of the Ministry of Health during the opening ceremony and during the gala evening as well an excellent media coverage of the Mozambican TV. The V/P of 2nd Chance, Dr Marc Pechère, was interviewed.

Representatives of the Swiss Embassy in Maputo were very available and showed great interest for this program which has been financed by the Swiss Cooperation Division for three years.
