First training on surgery for treating Goiters (Democratic Republic of the Congo)

This first training mission  took place from March 29th till April 5th, 2014 at the Hospital of Katana (North of Bukavu). Thanks to the support of the Edmond de Rothschild Foundations, 23 patients of thyroid goitre as well as 2 men suffering from the same pathology were operated by our surgical team. This mission was the opportunity, in the specific spirit of 2nd Chance, of teaching session on the surgical techniques and treatment this pathology to 4 Congolese doctors of the region from the east of Congo, endemic region of goitres.

The Association will ensure the medical follow-up of the 25 patients and is preparing a second mission of training in a few months.
