2nd Chance is a Swiss non-profit organization that aims to develop reconstructive surgery in Africa. Support our activities ⬇️
  • In 2025, 2nd Chance reaffirms its commitment: 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻, 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲

9 surgical workshops are planned to train surgeons in Sub-Saharan Africa and provide vital care in reconstructive surgery and obstetric fistula repair.

𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
We continue to train surgeons on the ground, equipping them with essential skills. These skills will enable them to transform the lives of hundreds of patients in their communities.

Every surgical act restores to a mutilated person the possibility of regaining their dignity, their place in society, and a brighter future.

𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝘄𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀.

  • This week, Dr. Pierre Quinodoz, president of 2nd Chance, is in Harare, Zimbabwe, alongside African and international experts, serving as an examiner for the final-year reconstructive surgery specialization exams with COSECSA.

👨‍⚕️ These exams are the culmination of a rigorous journey: a general surgery degree followed by 3 years of specialization. Dr. Quinodoz is contributing to evaluating surgeons who will transform lives through their skills.

We are proud to support and strengthen local medical capacities for lasting impact. 💪

🌍 Together, we rebuilt lives.

  • Project for Women in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania 🇹🇿

This week, our team is in action on two fronts! In addition to the mission previously announced in Addis Ababa, we are also present in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with a special focus on the Project for Women. With 8 participants from Cameroun, Ethiopia, Burundi and Zanzibar and 3 specialized trainers, we have launched a one-week workshop to provide essential reconstructive care to 6 female patients affected by obstetric recto-vaginal fistulas. 🙌✨

In addition, 3 surgeons will receive certification at the end of this mission, marking an important step toward autonomy and the expansion of reconstructive care for women.

This dual mobilization reflects our unwavering commitment to support and strengthen local capacities, helping women regain their dignity and a renewed sense of hope. 🌱

👉 Let’s keep working to bring hope, autonomy, and dignity.
🌍 Together, we rebuild lives.
