From November 23 to 28, 2025, 2nd Chance conducted a reconstructive surgery workshop at CHUK in Bujumbura, in collaboration with the hospital teams and programme partners. The mission covered the full cycle of care β€” consultation, surgery, and post-operative follow-up β€” delivering essential treatment to 13 patients and training 9 participants from East Africa.

From November 23 to 28, 2025, 2nd Chance conducted a comprehensive reconstructive surgery workshop at the Kamenge University Hospital – Roi Khaled (CHUK) in Bujumbura, Burundi.
This mission brings to life our core approach: train, transfer, treat, building stronger, more autonomous health systems capable of providing essential reconstructive care.

Thanks to the commitment of our institutional partners, sponsors and donors, this mission is helping to strengthen surgical capacity in the region.

Together, we rebuild lives.

2nd Chance in action

We heal to rebuild lives and restore hope.

Here are our latest actions in the field: through specialized interventions, patients suffering from burns, congenital malformations, obstetric fistulas, or goiters have regained their health, dignity, and independence. These essential treatments transform not only the lives of the patients but also those of their families and communities.
